Las Vegas Man Kills Knife-Wielding Intruder in Self-Defense
A Las Vegas resident had one of the biggest scares of his life Tuesday night as his apartment was broken into by a man carrying a knife. Luckily, the homeowner brought a gun to the fight, in what is clearly being seen as a defensive gun use.
Las Vegas police say that an as of yet unnamed man broke into the gun owner’s apartment at around 6:30 in the morning on Tuesday, May 23. It is not yet known the intentions of the man with the knife, but the apartment’s resident feared for his life enough to pull out his gun and once met face to face with the apartment invader, the justified shooter pulled the trigger. His shot hit the target directly in the heart, killing him.
After the defensive gun use, the man immediately called 911 and told them what had happened. After police arrived, they went to work in identifying the man with the knife. It was at that point they were told by the defensive shooter that the dead man was, in fact, his neighbor in the building.
He told police that he did not know why the man with the knife broke in or what his plan was since they had not commonly spoken and the police found that there was no prior criminal record for the now deceased intruder.
What is clear though, is that there was definitely intent to harm by the man wielding the knife, due to the evidence obtained by officers at the scene and due to that, there will not be any charges against him in what is being called an act of self-defense.
What would you do if your neighbor had broken into your home and was brandishing a knife? Would you try to reason with them or would you shoot quickly like this man did? Is your home even Gun-Ready? Let us know in the comment section below.
