Armed Citizen Stops Workplace Shooting in North Las Vegas
What could have become a deadly workplace massacre was cut short thanks to an armed citizen at a North Las Vegas construction site. Police say a recently fired employee returned one week later and opened fire on his former coworkers—until a legally armed employee intervened and shot him.
The incident began weeks earlier, on April 23rd, when the future shooter was involved in a dispute with a coworker. During the altercation, he escalated the confrontation by retrieving a knife from his vehicle and threatening several people on the job site. He was fired shortly thereafter.

Roughly a week later, the man returned to the site with a rifle and fired 15 rounds in the direction of workers. A nearby doorbell camera captured the sound of the gunfire, and the recording has since been turned over as evidence.
Remarkably, none of the workers were harmed during the initial barrage. As the shooter attempted to drive away, he made a turn in his truck—at which point one of his former coworkers returned fire and shot him once in the shoulder, ending the threat.
In an interview with police, the shooter reportedly spoke about the stress he was under, including the pressures of supporting his family and caring for his children.
This incident could have ended in tragedy. Instead, thanks to the presence and actions of an armed citizen, no lives were lost. It’s a sobering reminder of how quickly workplace violence can erupt—and how preparedness can make all the difference.
